Australia's economy unexpectedly accelerated

Australia's economy unexpectedly accelerated last quarter, providing a tailwind for the winner of this week's election and sending the nation's currency higher.

Second quarter gross domestic product advanced 0.6 percent from the previous three months, when it rose a revised 0.5 percent, a Bureau of Statistics report released in Sydney today showed. The result compared with the median of 31 estimates in a Bloomberg survey for a 0.5 percent gain. From a year earlier, the economy expanded 2.6 percent, also exceeding estimates.

Liberal National coalition leader Tony Abbott is on track to defeat ruling Labor party opponent Kevin Rudd on Sept. 7, polls show, and will inherit record low interest rates designed to support an economy in which unemployment is rising. The Treasury last month forecast wider budget deficits in the next three years and cut its growth estimate for this fiscal year.

"The result is a little bit better than expected and will add to the view from the data that we've been getting here and offshore that the Reserve Bank's likely done," said Joshua Williamson, a senior economist at Citigroup Inc. in Sydney. "The economy is motoring along at a third gear pace, rather than fourth gear or flat out. in Sydney, from 90.50 cents before the release. Traders pared bets that the central bank will lower borrowing costs by the end of the year from about 50 50 to 40 percent after the release, according to swaps data compiled by Bloomberg.

RBA Cuts The Reserve Bank of Australia cut borrowing costs by 2.25 percentage points since late 2011 to 2.5 percent as it tries to spur employment intensive industries like residential construction and avoid a growth gap as mining investment wanes.

"The Reserve Bank has been relied upon, or pressured, to do the heavy lifting in the economy for the last few years," Shadow Finance Minister Andrew Robb told Bloomberg television yesterday. It doesn't have "a lot of room left if there was some other unforeseen event in the world economy to make a difference."

Today's report showed household spending climbed 0.4 percent in the second quarter, adding 0.2 percentage point to GDP growth. The nation's household savings ratio climbed to 10.8 percent in the second quarter from 10.5 percent in the prior three months, today's report showed.

Consumer Restraint Business leaders and consumers have been more restrained under Labor rule, which encompassed the collapse of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. and resulting global recession. Australia was alone among major developed economies in avoiding contraction as Rudd spent A$42 billion ($38 billion) stimulating the economy with cash handouts, building programs and homebuyer incentives.

Westpac Banking Corp. (WBC) and Melbourne Institute's survey of consumer confidence has averaged 101.5 points under Labor versus 110.7 in the prior six years. National Australia Bank Ltd.'s business confidence index averaged 0.5 point in the almost six years of Labor rule versus about 10.3 points over the prior six years. A level of 100 divides optimists and pessimists in Westpac's survey, while zero is the dividing line in NAB's index.

Australia has avoided consecutive quarters of contraction the local definition of a recession for 22 years. The Treasury last month forecast unemployment will rise to a more than decade high 6.25 percent.

Recession Risk "If we are re elected on Saturday, what we will do is track back to surplus," Rudd told Australian Broadcasting Corp. television's Q program this week. cheap jerseys "If you were to do it quicker than that, I really fear if Mr. Abbott implements his A$70 billion worth of cuts, then you can run a risk of running the economy into recession."

The coalition has said it would cut the public service by at least 12,000 positions and proposes an audit of government services. The biggest employment gain under Labor has been the government heavy health and social assistance industry, which added 303,000 workers, according to Bloomberg calculations based on statistics bureau data. In the coalition's last six years, the wholesale nfl jerseys biggest employment increase was the 271,000 positions added in the privately driven construction industry.

Should Abbott win a three year term at the Sept. 7 election, he may find that gloom lifts from 2015 as a surge in gas exports replenishes Australia's coffers and propels the nation toward becoming the biggest shipper of the fuel.

LNG Boom Ten liquefied natural gas projects across the nation three of which are operating and seven under construction will boost budget revenues by A$11 billion a year from 2015 to 2025, according to estimates compiled by McKinsey Co. Inc. The projects will add 2.6 percent to Australia's gross domestic product, or A$5,500 per household each year and support 180,000 jobs, the New York based consultancy forecast.

Joe Hockey, the frontrunner to become Australia's next Treasurer, said the coalition wouldn't embark on an austerity drive and expressed economic optimism that contrasts with the governing Labor party, which has warned the China led mining investment boom is over.

"The Australian economy is on the threshold of its greatest ever era," Hockey, 48, said in an interview in Sydney today. "There'll be no austerity. People just expect us to be careful with their money. You've got to look after taxpayers' money as you'd look after your own."

Elsewhere in the region, South Korea reported an increase in its foreign exchange reserves for August, while a China purchasing managers' index showed services expanded at a faster pace last month.

The lack of wealth flowing from a mining boom to Australia's eastern seaboard and impact of the currency's sustained strength on manufacturers like Ford Motor Co. has led to rising job insecurity and hurt the government's standing. Abbott sought to tap this with pledges to return to the type of policies run during the "Golden Age" of former Prime Minister John Howard's 1996 to 2007 government.

The currency's 12 percent drop last quarter may have come too late for Rudd. The opposition led Labor 54 percent to 46 percent on a two party preferred basis, a Sept. 2 Newspoll published in the Australian newspaper showed. The coalition is in a "healthy condition" to win the election, Robb said.

Long before the Eagles' LeSean McCoy was in the conversation as the best running back in the NFL, he was a rookie waiting for his chance to earn a bigger role in the team's offense. As a second year player, McCoy exploded as the team's starting running back and ran for over 1,000 yards. He's consistently been one the NFL's top rushers ever since. Each year, these types of opportunities present themselves to talented young players. Some capitalize on the opportunity and eventually become household names. The Q identified five talented players with the same type of opportunity in front of them to become this year's breakout stars:Andre Ellington, RB Arizona CardinalsDuring Bruce Arians' first season as the Cardinals head coach, he relied on veteran RB Rashard Mendenhall, because the veteran back already knew the offensive system.Mendenhall started 15 games for the Cardinals last season, but Ellington saw his workload grow as the season wore on. The rookie back finished the season with 652 rushing yards on 115 carries. Ellington's 5.5 yards per carry was the best average among players with over 100 carries. He was also a vital component in passing game with 39 receptions.FANTASY: Cards' Ellington will be big for fantasy owners in 2014With Mendenhall's abrupt retirement, Ellington's speed and explosion will be featured in the Cardinals' offense. And the team showed confidence in the second year back by not adding much to the backfield during the offseason. Only Jonathan Dwyer was signed as a free agent to provide depth.Ellington will also benefit from a louboutin replica revamped offensive line. Jared Veldheer was signed during free agency to man left tackle. Bradley Sowell will slide to the right side. And Jonathan Cooper, last year's first round pick, will take over at left guard after missing all of last season with a fractured left tibia. With ample opportunity and improved blocking, Ellington has a chance to develop into a true feature back.Jamie Collins, LB New England PatriotsCollins's breakout game came in the playoffs when he had six tackles, a sack and an interception against the Indianapolis Colts. After starting eight games last season, Collins now has the opportunity to replace Brandon Spikes, who signed with the Buffalo Bills as a free agent, as a full time starter.PATRIOTS: 2014 scheduleCollins will be a massive upgrade over Spikes from an athletic perspective. Spikes is a two down run defender, but he is a liability in coverage due to his lack of quickness. Collins, however, was Top 5 in four of the six events at the 2013 NFL combine.Collins' ability to drop into coverage was evident late in the season. He deflected six passes in the team's final six games. He also brings added versatility as an edge rusher in certain sub packages. The versatility the Patriots now have within their linebacker corps with Collins, Jarod Mayo and Dont'a Hightower will provide even more flexibility in Bill Belichick's defense.Byron Maxwell, CB Seattle SeahawksSeattle Seahawks cornerback Byron Maxwell red bottom shoes cheap (41) defends Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Floyd (15) at CenturyLink Field. Neither Richard Sherman's bookend, Brandon Browner, nor nickel corner Walter Thurmond were re signed.Browner's loss paves the way for Maxwell to become Sherman's new running mate at right cornerback. Maxwell isn't as big or as physical as Browner, but he's a better overall athlete with enough size (6 1, 207) to provide a presence at the line of scrimmage. Maxwell is also a smart defender in zone coverage.MORE: Even as Seahawks visit White House, they're ready to returnThe fourth year cornerback became a starter during the final five games of the regular season after Browner was suspended, and Maxwell proved capable of playing at a high level throughout the playoffs, including the Super Bowl. While Sherman and safeties Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor will demand most of the attention, Maxwell's name will be mentioned far more often this season as an integral part of the best unit in professional football.Travis Kelce, TE Kansas City ChiefsThe Chiefs lacked explosive play makers in their passing offense last year. Yet, the team decided not to add a high draft pick or experienced alternative at wide receiver or tight end. What the Chiefs will gain this season is a healthy Kelce. The tight end was placed on injured reserve last season after only one game, because he required microfracture knee surgery.

Tie Games in the NFL

Tie Games louboutin replica in the NFL

A tie, it has been said, is a lot like kissing your sister. The first known recorded instance of this having been said was in 1953 by Eddie Erdelatz; the head coach of the US Naval Academy, whose football team had just played to a scoreless tie. The NFL has done a very good job of limiting the number of tie scores to which teams play, from sudden death overtime instituted in 1974, to two point conversions (adopted in 1994). Since 1974, the most tie scores in a season has been 2 in 1986 and 1997. In the 1973 season, there were 7 such scores with the Browns, Chiefs, Broncos, and Packers playing to a draw twice each. Since 1990, there have been only 3 ties played, an average of 18.7 a year. Since 1974, the average number of tie scores is .5 yearly.

When a regular season NFL game ends in a tie score, a fifth 15 minute period is played. The winner is the first team to score any points and it ends in a tie if time expires without points having been scored. For purposes of determining playoff spots and division rankings, a tie is calculated as .5 win, .5 loss. So, for instance a team is 10 5 1 at the end of the season, its winning percentage would be .645 (or 10/15.5) as opposed to .625 (or 10/16).

The Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks, and Houston Texans are the only franchises without a tie in their history. It is not surprising given these are four of the six newest franchises in the christian louboutin shoes replica NFL; the other two "new" franchises, the Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers each have one. Of the 28 teams with a tie score in their history, the New England Patriots have the longest run without one. That tie was in week 5 of the 1967 season against the San Diego Chargers. Final score: 31 31. The most recent tie in the NFL occurred in Week 10 of the 2002 NFL Season, when the Falcons and Steelers played to a 34 34 draw in Pittsburgh; it was the first NFL tie in 5 years. Most ties, though, seem to be lower scoring affairs: of the last ties for each franchise, 10 10 is the most frequent score. The Packers have 36.

The only thing keeping the 1982 Colts from having a "perfect" strike shortened season, was a tie with the Green Bay Packers; the Colts finished the season 0 8 1, just one tie away from perfect futility.

If you're looking to compare the coaching records of those who have coached in the history of the NFL, you should be aware that a tie is not necessarily counted the same way. According to the , there are in fact, three different ways ties get calculated into a head coaches winning percentage. If your man was coaching before the 1972 season, they're completely disregarded; If your man started coaching NFL ball in the 1972 season or later, they're counted in the same way ties are in the teams record half win/half loss. HOWEVER, if your man coached through the 1971 season and into 1972 or beyond, there's a third calculation ties before 1971 are disregarded, ties in 1972 and later are counted using the 50/50 split. Kissing your sister, indeed.

Coach Erdelatz apparently thought better of coining that phrase: In edition of the New York Times, he says he was proud of the quip, until he saw it in print and it didn't "look as gay, as flippant or as innocent as I meant it to be." Some half century later, he may well have thought better cheap red bottoms about that clarification.

Simpson files new appeal of Las Vegas robbery conviction

Simpson's lawyers resubmitted a Nevada Supreme Court appeal Wednesday seeking a new trial on grounds that the imprisoned former football star was misled by his lawyer and didn't get a fair trial in his Las Vegas kidnapping and armed robbery case.

The 102 page document asks the seven justices to reconsider whether Simpson's lead attorney at the time, Yale Galanter, had advance knowledge of the ill fated September 2007 confrontation involving Simpson, several other men and two sports memorabilia dealers at a Las Vegas casino hotel.

Evidence at trial "tended to indicate that Galanter was involved in the alleged conspiracy," current Simpson lawyers Patricia Palm, Ozzie Fumo and Tom Pitaro say in the appeal. "Galanter's personal interest in hiding his pre incident involvement is sufficiently substantial to indicate the existence of an actual conflict."

Palm declined additional comment about the appeal, which was initially stalled by size and formatting issues after she submitted it May 21. Since last week, Palm double spaced the document according to Chief Justice Mark Gibbon's instructions and re filed it.

The justices haven't decided Fake Sunglasses if they will hold hearings on Simpson's latest appeal and didn't immediately set a date for a decision, court spokesman Michael Sommermeyer said. The court is Nevada's only appellate bench and cases can take months or longer to decide.

The high court in September 2010 rejected a previous appeal by Galanter on behalf of Cheap Michael Kors Simpson.

The new effort alleges that Galanter had a conflict of interest that skewed his representation of Simpson in a trial also tainted by the sports, television and movie star's notoriety stemming from his acquittal in the June 1994 slayings of his ex wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman in Los Angeles.

The 20th anniversary of the slayings is next week.

Simpson, now 66, is serving nine to 33 years at a Nevada state prison in Lovelock in the Las Vegas robbery case. He's not eligible for parole until late 2017.

Galanter on Wednesday Michael Kors Outlet defended his performance on Simpson's behalf.

The Miami based lawyer pointed to Clark County District Court Judge Linda Marie Bell's ruling in November after five days of hearings last May and several months reviewing the case record that Simpson failed to demonstrate how Galanter's actions led to Simpson's conviction.

Bell denied Simpson's request for release and a new trial. She said also that evidence was overwhelming that Simpson orchestrated the September 2007 armed kidnapping and robbery at the Palace Station hotel.

"Judge Bell saw through his and his lawyers' charade and kicked him to the curb," Galanter said.

Simpson continues to say he was trying to retrieve items that had been stolen from him Cheap Replica Sunglasses after a 1997 civil case put him on the hook for a $33.5 million wrongful death judgment.

He testified last year that he thought he had a right to get his belongings back, and that he never knew any of the men with him were carrying guns.

The NFL hall of famer didn't testify at trial in Las Vegas. He told Bell that Galanter advised him not to.

Patriots draft Eastern Illinois quarterback Jimmy

Patriots Wholesale Handbags draft Eastern Illinois quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in the second round

Tom Brady isn't getting any younger. Ryan Mallett trade rumors have been swirling.

And on Friday, the Patriots might have found their future quarterback.

In the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft, the Pats sent shockwaves through NFL by selecting Eastern Illinois quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo with their 62nd pick.

Growing up in Arlington Heights, Ill., Garoppolo said Brady was one of his favorite players and has tried to mold his game after him. The thought of getting to work with his boyhood idol made his Wholesale Cheap Sunglasses head spin when he got the call from Bill Belichick.

"Initially, I was at a loss for words," Garoppolo said. "Excited to get out there and the opportunity to play for such a successful organization. I couldn't have pictured any better.

"It's pretty exciting. Being able to go to Boston and learn from Tom and coach Belichick and all the coaches and all the players, it's a great opportunity for a guy like me a young player. I have a lot to learn. I know that and I'm excited about it."

Brady will turn 37 on Aug. 3, but still figures to be playing in the next three years. The perennial Pro Bowler and future hall of famer has talked often about wanting to play to at least 40 years old. He struggled with his deep ball from time to time last season, but still threw for 4,343 yards to go along with 25 touchdowns in a year were most of his weapons were either hurt Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola or in their first NFL season Aaron Dobson and Kenbrell Thompkins.

Mallett's contract is up at the end of the season and in the past couple of days, there have been rumors that the Patriots and Houston were discussing a deal. The Texans denied the report, but head coach Bill O'Brien coached Mallett as a rookie, so there's a connection there.

The last time the Patriots held onto three quarterbacks on the 53 man roster was in 2011. That season, they drafted Mallett in the third round and still kept Brian Hoyer on the team to backup Brady.

Garoppolo said he's prepared to ride the bench in the case that Brady plays out his contract, which ends in 2017.

"I feel good about it," Garoppolo said. "It's one of those things whether I was coming in as a starter or a backup; I'm going to approach it the same way either way. My mindset is the same as it would be if I was going in as a starter. I'm going to go out there and try to get better each and every day and that's what good football players do."

Garoppolo ended up being the only player that the Patriots selected on day two of the Draft. When their turn came to select in third round, Belichick shipped the team's 93rd pick to Jacksonville in exchange for the Jaguars fourth round pick (105) and a sixth round pick (179).

With the pick, Jacksonville selected Miami offensive guard Brandon Linder. The Pats now hold three fourth round picks (105, 130, 140) and three sixth round Wholesale Bags (179, 198, 206) and will finish up their Draft, which starts at noon, on Saturday.

The team came into Friday with several needs that they could've addressed, instead they surprised many by selecting a quarterback. Nevertheless, Garoppolo said he feels that he's a perfect fit for the Patriots.

"It fits me very well," he said. "They're a very blue collared organization. They seem like all business and they get to work. That's what I'm excited about. I'm a blue collared guy and I go to work every. That's what I'm excited about. I think it's a very good Cheap Wholesale Sunglasses fit."

A four year starter, Garoppolo put up monster numbers last season in the Football Championship Subdivision. He broke most of Dallas Cowboys' quarterback Tony Romo's school records after throwing for 5,050 yards and 53 touchdowns last season. He was the recipient of the Walter Payton Award last season, giving to the best FCS player, and named the offensive MVP of the East West Shrine Game.

As he's sitting on the bench in the upcoming years, Garoppolo can only dream that his situation turns out to be reminiscent to Aaron Rogers, who backed up Brett Farve for three seasons in Green Bay.

"I remember when it happened. Him sitting in the Draft room and waiting a little while," Garoppolo said. "You know, it's a very similar scenario. It worked out very well for Aaron so hopefully it'll work out the same for me."

Patriots Draft DT Dominique Easley In First Round

Patriots Draft DT Dominique Easley In First Round Of NFL Draft CBS Boston

BOSTON (CBS) The New England Patriots did not trade out of the first round Thursday night and actually used their first selection in the 2014 NFL Draft, adding some Wholesale Handbags youth to their defensive line.

The Patriots drafted defensive tackle Dominique Easley out of Florida with the 29th overall pick. He adds more depth and talent to the defensive line, but the pick also comes with some injury concern.

The 6 2, 288 pound Easley can apply the pressure from the inside from many positions, but is currently recovering from a right ruptured ACL that kept him out of pre draft workouts. He also tore his left ACL during the 2011 season, so his medical history was a big concern for teams ahead of the draft.

But the Patriots felt comfortable enough to make the selection, hoping that Easley can stay healthy and help with a pass rush that struggled to apply pressure late last season. With Vince Wilfork and Tommy Kelly both coming Wholesale Cheap Sunglasses off injuries, Easley will add some much needed depth alongside Sealver Siliga, Chris Jones and Joe Vellano.

It a high risk, high reward pick for the Patriots, something Belichick isn known for when it comes to first round picks. But the selection speaks volumes to what Easley can do on the field when healthy. Easley tackle numbers dropped overall (26) but he finished with more big plays (8.5 for loss, team leading four sacks), including 3.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage in the Sugar Bowl loss. Easley explosiveness off the ball has been among the best in the conference. He also has quick, active hands to slap away blockers and is able to hold up well against the run at this level due to good core strength.

WEAKNESSES:At under 290 pounds, Easley may be considered undersized to be an every down interior DL at the next level. As with any player who has suffered an ACL tear, there may be questions about durability and long term health.

Easley played everywhere on the defensive line at Florida, and versatility is one thingBill Belichick lovesout of his defensive players. From all accounts Easley is a hard working player with a good head on his shoulders and a nose for the ball. Had it not been for the injury history, Easley could have been an early first round pick.

I lovin this pick !!

Easley, a Wholesale Sunglasses team captain with the Gators last season, is the fifth defensive lineman drafted by the Patriots in the first round under head coach Bill Belichick. He joins a very good group in Richard Seymour (2001), Ty Warren (2003), Wilfork (2004) and Chandler Jones (2012).

Packers' Corey Linsley turned life around at Ohio State to reach NFL

Green Bay He nearly quit football entirely. Two years into a sinking collegiate career on and off the field Corey Linsley considered switching to track and field at Ohio State.

The center even spoke with the Ohio State track coach. He was close. This seemed like a logical exit strategy.

"You're better than that," he told his Wholesale Bags son. "That's like saying, 'Well, that didn't work out. Now, I'm going to go this route.' That's not how you handle life. That's not how you handle problems. You handle them head on."

So Linsley stuck with football, Urban Meyer took over the team, and Linsley matured into a team captain and first team all Big Ten selection. In Green Bay, the 6 foot 2, 299 pound Linsley has a chance to start. The three way competition among Linsley, JC Tretter and Garth Gerhart should be a must see, 12 round brawl this summer.

No way would Linsley even be in this position if he hadn't made major structural changes to his life. Lang before him. Linsley partied too much. He didn't take football seriously. He was suspended for two games in 2011 for a "violation of team rules." And when he nearly lost it all, when he was ready to retreat to track, he got his act together.

One day after the Packers took him in the fifth round (161st overall), the sound of airport announcements blared in the background at his Detroit connection. Next stop, Austin Straubel International Airport.

Linsley Wholesale Sunglasses realized he wouldn't be sitting there without reprioritizing his life.

"I was in a place," Linsley said, "where I wasn't putting myself in a position to progress in any area of my life. I was in the stereotypical college lifestyle. I'd have fun. I wasn't really buckled down at all. Coach Meyer and all the coaches there really forced me to buckle down and say, 'These are the opportunities you have. You have to do it yourself.'"

Neither the team nor Linsley ever publicized the reason for the suspension. But Linsley is the first to admit he was lazy, out of shape and, well, enjoying Columbus like any red blooded college student would.

Football players carry celebrity status on campus. Go to a party and your rules are different.

"Especially at Ohio State, football players are put on a pedestal," Linsley said. "Not saying I ever was, but you can get away with a lot more stuff as a football player. So that doesn't help if you're trying to become a better person.

"I just was never putting the effort toward football. I was never putting the effort toward academics. It was never bad stuff. It was the lack of effort."

Meanwhile, the Buckeyes were in NCAA sanctioned disarray.

The turning point, Linsley said, was one of Meyer's initial team meetings in January 2012.

Meyer's Florida teams were no choir boys. Arrests were common in Gainesville. Still, when he told the team in Columbus that one day their kids would view them as either good fathers or bad fathers, Linsley listened.

"I said, 'Man, that's real. That's 100% true,'" Linsley said. "He tells it like it is. There's no sugarcoating, because that's how life is. There's no sugarcoating in life. It clicked in my mind. So I told him I'd dedicate myself to the football team."

Linsley cut "all the crap" out of his life, "all the lazy stuff, all the partying." Instead of playing an hour of video games, he spent an extra hour in the weight room. His strength reached new highs across the board. Linsley credits his girlfriend for helping him refocus his life, too. drinking, he stayed home and played euchre. He might enjoy the occasional Maker's Mark, but if he goes out, it's probably to continue his "Trivia Night" domination more than anything.

Ohio State co offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Ed Warinner wanted to give all players a clean slate. But, yes, he had heard the grumblings about Linsley. The reports weren't promising.

"He had underachieved, was immature and made some bad decisions about how to manage his life," Warinner said. "He grew up. . He had an epiphany, whatever you want to call it. He knew it was time to live up to his potential and fully commit."

As Warinner said, this Buckeyes staff "saw the end result of it." They only saw "the good parts; we didn't see any of the bad."

The good helped Ohio State roll to a 24 Wholesale Cheap Sunglasses 2 record in two seasons. Linsley was the point man. Warinner and Meyer entrusted him with all the protection calls, all communication. Responsibilities often given to quarterbacks, Warriner said, were given to Linsley.

Through the recommitment, Linsley added more and more strength. Back to high school, he could always lift a lot of weights. These last two years, Linsley's regimen was different.

"The regimen was, you can take a horse up to a river but you can't make it drink," Linsley said. "Or you can shove the horse's head into the water and I guarantee some water is going to get in there somehow. That's the type of training we did at Ohio State."

The culmination were his 36 reps at 225 pounds at the combine that tied for second overall. Warinner believes Linsley is even Wholesale Handbags stronger in his lower body, where he gains leverage on bigger nose tackles. The power translates.

Linsley engaged in daily battles with 320 pound nose tackle Johnathan "Big Hank" Hankins, now with the New York Giants.

His Filipino born mother, Dening, was in Melbourne to watch her son outlast Bjorn, who bogeyed the last as Day sunk a par to earn the $1.2 million winners' cheque.

"It's just been an amazing tournament for me," Day said. "My mother, my family, coming down to support me. I'm just so happy the hard work has paid off, and I'm glad it happened in Melbourne.

"The biggest thing right now is to know that I just didn't give up. It would have been the easiest thing for me to just go ahead and pull out of the tournament with what has been going on over the last week just to be up there with my mum and support her.

"But I really wanted to come down here and play with Adam (Scott) and really try to win the World Cup and we achieved that which was great."

RollercoasterOvernight leader by a stroke from Bjorn, Day traded two bogeys and two birdies in his first five holes before charging clear of his playing partner when he holed an approach on the first bounce for an eagle on the short par four sixth.

And Bjorn's challenge ended decisively with a wayward approach on the par four 18th that led to a bogey, allowing Day the luxury of a pressure free par putt to clinch the win.

The game will take place at CenturyLink Field on Thursday, Sept. 4, in prime time on national TV.The Packers hosted the Saints three years ago coming off their Super Bowl XLV triumph, but this time they'll be the visiting team in a venue that's plenty difficult even without all the hype and excitement that will surround the Seahawks' first game since their rout of the Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII."It's a tremendous opportunity for our football team," Head Coach Mike McCarthy said. "We Wholesale Handbags have experience playing in the kickoff opener three years ago, and we will draw on that. Obviously, being the visiting team this time presents new challenges. It will help sharpen our focus even more during training camp and the preseason."Adding to the drama is that the Packers and Seahawks haven't met in the regular season since the infamous "Fail Mary" game on a Monday night at CenturyLink back in September of 2012.Officiated by replacements, the game ended the negotiating stalemate between the league and its regular officials, but not before a controversial call and replay review gave the Seahawks a last play touchdown catch when the Packers thought they had an interception."This game won't be about the past," McCarthy said.It begins with back to back road trips to Detroit and Chicago on Sept. 21 and 28, respectively, and concludes with a Week 5 home Thursday night game against Minnesota on Oct. 2."Two of our division opponents have new head coaches, so that's an added challenge, but division games always carry extra importance, no matter when they're played," McCarthy said. The Packers last played three consecutive division games in 2012, late in the season, and won all three on their way to the second of what is now three straight NFC North titles."That was a key stretch in our season," McCarthy said. Shorting Sirius XM Because Of Monopoly Myths

Shorting Sirius XM Because Of Monopoly Myths And Market Dynamics

"If it's true that every person who tries the service gets "immediately hooked" as you say, then why is it that the company reports 1 million cancellations per quarter and 4 million cancellations per year?"

Cameron Kaine Being a good and loyal customer does not make one a great investor. This is something that many investors have failed to realize. I always hear about how great Sirius XM (SIRI) is from several investors to the extent that many are quick to point out that it is a monopoly. However, in every conference call, investors can hear how the company's management point to many competitive threats from Pandora (P), Clear Channel, terrestrial radio, iHeartRadio and a host of others that are IP based. In fact, Sirius' CEO, Mel Karmazin, was quick to point out on his recent appearance on Jim Cramer's show, that IP competition are popping up all the time.

The monopoly myth and the competition So for Sirius investors to insist that the company is a monopoly, I continue to ask how? Being the only one that uses satellite transmission does not suffice as an argument and nor does it matter. Is Sirius the only entry in the automobile? Is Sirius the only streaming audio content provider? Is Sirius the only place to Replica Sunglasses get the NFL? Not really because I can get it on mobile with DirecTV (DTV). I can get CNBC, NPR as well as ESPN streamed online as well as a host of other original programming through its own individual smart phone app. So where is the monopoly?

This is what the rest of the market understands by virtue of its high short interest and what many Sirius investors fail to realize. The fact is, just because you enjoy a product it does translate to a good understanding of the business and nor does it make it worthy of a good investment. I often wonder how many would invest in Sirius if investors fully appreciated the (real) growth potential as well as the risks to the company. It is disappointing that investors rather continue following the litany of rumors instead of investigating the truth for themselves as part of a thorough due diligence process. What I have noticed is that investors take large positions in the stock because of its low price level without realizing that the value is pretty limited by its P/E of 33.

The result is an immediate emotional attachment that occurs due to the daily movement watching of a few pennies. The question that I would like for any Sirius investor to answer is, what are the probabilities that the company's earnings can grow to the extent that its P/E can drop to what is considered "standard" according to the market? The company is trading higher than Apple (AAPL), Hewlett Packard (HPQ), Cisco (CSCO) and Intel (INTC) and is not as established and does not generate a return. In other words it is trading as a technology bellwether that does not innovate nor invest in technology. As you take in your long Cheap Replica Sunglasses positions, ask yourself how long will this continue?

Appreciating market dynamics Sirius and XM were the first to enter the market, to the extent that I will say that both firms were the pioneers before their merger. At the onset, the word "monopoly" might have been acceptable, but using it now is completely absurd. Here's what you need to understand: Competitive threats are often nowhere to be found whenever a new market is formed. The perfect example if Research In Motion (RIMM) and (even better) Netflix (NFLX). RIM created the smart phone market, one that was pioneered by Palm.

For a while both companies battled it out for market share until Palm gave up the fight. RIM dominated the market until Apple (AAPL) realized that the market was growing and it decided it wanted a piece of the pie. Now it owns the pie and caused Google (GOOG) to want to jump in as well. The end result is a saturated market where RIM is now wondering what happened? The same thing is now occurring to Netflix. The company created the mail movie delivery business and immediately made Blockbuster a dinosaur. It then wanted to enter streaming. While not a bad idea, its execution was grossly flawed. Since then Amazon (AMZN), Coinstar, Apple, Google and a host of other firms including cable providers have now saturated the market leaving Netflix looking for other options.

Summary This is what is going to happen for Sirius unless it changes its model. But I suspect that it may not matter for much longer if Liberty (LMCA) has anything to do with it. While it is true at one point Sirius and XM were the only players within the space, as a merged company investors have to realize that market Cheap Michael Kors Outlet dynamics often dictate the success of the companies Sirius at the moment is not a monopoly.

The audio entertainment market has been established and more players have now become involved and it is growing more rapidly than before. The question is, how confident are you that Sirius will be able to seize enough Michael Kors Cheap market share to grow into its already high valuation? In fact, it is my understanding of these factors surrounding its business, particularly with its dependency on the automobile, convinces me that it is a good short play at $2.35.
